Solar: Not in my Backyard
We all advocate for solar panels — sometimes.
Following is an extract from today’s Richmond Times-Dispatch. A company is planning to install a large array of solar panels on a large piece of land. The person who lives next door works at an environmental nonprofit, but clearly has reservations.
The proposed panels will provide power for the equivalent of only 963 homes. This, of course, illustrates the fundamental problem with solar and wind power — their low energy density.
